Our outdoor space is truly exceptional. Not only do all age groups have their own outdoor area adjacent to their playrooms but they also share a vast larger play space where they can run free, climb trees, make mud pies, hunt for bugs, build dens, explore nature, grow vegetables, care for animals, dig for worms and generally enjoy the fresh country air! The benefits of outdoor play are endless. Not only are there countless learning opportunities but outdoor play also promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages children to care for the natural environment.
Our ‘Outdoor Classroom’ encourages progress across all areas of learning and development of the Early Years Foundation Stage and our equipment is of the highest quality and accessible for appropriate ages and stages of development.
In addition to our age-appropriate play areas, we also boast a large green space which homes a giant sand pit where we can dig to our hearts’ content, a mud kitchen where we can make mud pies and create all sorts of potions and concoctions, a gardening corner where we have a fairy garden and grow our own vegetables, a bug hunting and mini beast area with a ‘bug hotel’, homes for our animal friends including a pony paddock, chicken coop and rabbit run and we also have a story circle under the trees.
We pride ourselves on our outdoor ethos and all children enjoy outdoor play every day, come rain or shine! Emma, Prep School Supervisor also delivers weekly Forest School sessions to our Pre and Prep School groups. This is something that we will soon be delivering across the whole nursery!
